Martial Arts is very important to Ed Rose’s Martial Arts Academy in Ft. Oglethorpe. Our instructors are here to guide, instruct, and motivate our members to be the best they can be and impact Ft. Oglethorpe in a positive way. We are here to help parents raise their children to be confident leaders, boost their self-esteem, feel healthy, and get in great physical shape.

Our History

CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM

Individuals who have achieved the rank of 1st degree Black Belt, and who are at least 16 years of age, with a minimum one year of training in our program, are eligible to be invited to join our team as a certified instructor. Members of the instructor team assist with and teach classes each week and are required to complete a minimum number of service and continuing education hours each year to renew their certification.

LEADERSHIP TEAM

Our leadership team is a mentor program for students who wish to develop traits of a team leader. Students who are at least 10 years of age and who have achieved the rank of Blue Belt are eligible to be invited as a member of our Junior Leadership Team. Students who participate on the Leadership Team assist our certified instructors with classes each week and have opportunities to develop a sense of responsibility in team objectives. Leadership Team Members participate in competitions, classes on the mat, and in our community. Students are required to complete a minimum number of service and continuing education classes each year to renew their leadership team status.

Meet Our Team

Master Ed Rose

Owner & Head Instructor, Certified 6th Degree Black Belt

Our team is led by Master Ed Rose, certified 6th degree Black Belt with over 25 years of experience teaching martial arts. Master Rose is a hands-on instructor, teaching the majority of the classes each day at the academy. Master Rose incorporates a variety of skills into Ed Rose’s Martial Arts Academy in Ft. Oglethorpe’s Taekwondo program, including escape skills, jiu jitsu, street combatives, and kickboxing drills into our classes.

Achievements

Master Ed Rose has been training in martial arts for over 20 years and has been an instructor for 19 of those. Master Rose is a 6th Degree Black Belt Certified Instructor and has trained under Grandmaster Rick Hall in Hixson, who for over 30 years has been serving the Chattanooga area with the finest in martial arts training. Master Rose took over the Fort Oglethorpe Academy in 2010 and is celebrating his 10th anniversary at the academy this year!

Master Rose is a business partner with several elementary schools in the Catoosa County area, and in 2017 was presented with the prestigious Robert Hitchcox Champion Award for being a Champion for Children in Catoosa County by Superintendent Mrs. Denia Reese.

U.S. Taekwondo Grandmasters Society

On April 12^th 2024, Master Ed Rose attended the 22^nd Annual U.S. Taekwondo Grandmasters Society Annual Convention in Atlanta, GA. As a 6^th Degree Black Belt, Master Rose was invited to be an associate member of the organization. The U.S. Taekwondo Grandmasters Society was founded in 2003 as a non-profit organization in Dallas and has grown to 325 members in 40 states. This national organization consists of an elite group of martial artist instructors and Master Rose is honored to be a part of the organization.

Qualifications

“It was a special honor for me to receive this award. I had the privilege of knowing Mr. Hitchcox several years prior to his passing, and his granddaughter had also trained with me and received her black belt.” – Master Ed Rose

Master Rose has also trained under GrandMaster He-Young Kimm for many years. Dr. Kimm is a 10th Degree Black Belt and the founder of the art of Han Mu Do. Dr. Kimm is internationally recognized as one of the pioneers who brought taekwondo to the United States in the 1960’s, and is the world’s foremost Korean martial arts historian. Master Rose is honored to have trained under such historic martial artists, and assisted Dr. Kimm with many of his seminars as an instructor.
